Bassrush is a beautiful look in to the history of raving that lets you see and hear the sights and sounds of days gone by. Each episode comes complete with seasoned So Cal's Ravers, many of which take the opportunity to forget about the last few years in raving. Forget that everyone might think your clothes might look dated, they are supposed to. Forget that everyone has heard every record in the Jungle set five hundred times, most of which before 2001, that is just the point. Forget that PLUR is dead, or at least seems to be, just go inside and pretend you've never been to a party before in your life. If you start to feel it, you might just forget what year it is and how jaded you are from going to 150 parties. You might just hear R.A.W. confidently spin happy hardcore right before your very eyes, and to your utter disbelief, it sounds great. You might show up at the party wearing your old school Adidas snaps, with 6-inch tracks running all the way down the sides, and decide that you really, really need to be covered in day glow paint to feel like your in the mix. You might go to the roof to bum a cigarette and look down at the city of Los Angeles and think, "What the hell are they doing down there? Don't they know they can be somewhere?" |
